This webinar will discuss the health impact of vector-borne neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and what actions are being implemented to reduce their burden and threat. Several of the NTDs currently prioritized by WHO (including Chagas disease, dengue and chikungunya, foodborne trematodiases, human African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis and trachoma) are vector borne and can be transmitted between or to humans. The Global Vector Control Response (GVCR) 2017-2030 is a key strategy supporting the WHO NTD Road Map 2021- 2030.
Panelists will discuss progress in the implementation of a Global Vector Control Response (GVCR). They will also share operational experiences in vector surveillance and control as well as highlight the importance of integrated and multi-sectoral actions through practical examples and facilitated discussion.
The webinar will be in English, with simultaneous interpretation in French and Spanish.
